Lakewood Homies

Ian came to visit last Thursday along with Tommy and George. That night after everyone came back from the bar, Tommy screamed a couple hundred profanities and found the blanket that he brought in the freezer. Apparently, George thought it would be funny to wet and freeze his blanket for the night to come. Typical Lakewood.

Check out Ian's creeper rat tail.

Pinhole

I drilled a hole in my body cap and made a crappy pinhole lens. This is my brother for 2o seconds.

Bumming It

The other day, Candice and I went to Hillcrest to shoot some photos of some food places that are being featured in the Daily Aztec.  The owner of the taco shop wanted me to shoot carne asada fries as their special dish.  We were both already full from pizza, so we found a bum hanging out by my truck when we were walking back. His name was Charlie and he was grateful that a couple of young kids thought that he looked hungry.  He told us that this was the first time he'd eaten more than a couple of bites at one time in over a month.  Right now with the way things are going, i don't think that i'm too far from where he's at.

Ocean Beach

Schwoops is probably one of the most relaxed dogs i have ever known but he gets really crazy around other dogs.  Yesterday, we took him to the Ocean Beach Farmer's Market.  Christi didn't understand how to say his name, so she kept calling him "Schrute" when he was pulling his leash to smell other dogs.  He actually snapped at a rottweiler that was at least three times his size.  After we pulled him away Schwoops was staring him down and shaking like crazy.

Rainy Day Excursion

Tyler and I went out to East County to escape the rain.  It was snowing and our shoes became soggy with water and mud.

It was nice to go home and take a hot shower.

Vientiane

Vientiane is probably the sleepiest capital city i have ever been to.  Light traffic and people walking around is pretty much all this town has to offer besides the obligatory temples sparsely built in the area.

Smokey

When I was about 7 years old, my brother and I would play in the yard between our house and our grandmother's on her double lot.  There was Chow that kept watch over the yard and he would lay quietly near the garage.  One day my brother and I were playing with the dog and teasing him with a stick.  I approached him and held his ears down against his head and proclaimed "look Frank, Smokey's bald!"  I guess he didn't like that very much because he proceeded to attack me and bite my hands into a bloody mess.  As i stared down at my hands dripping salty crimson, my brother screamed and ran into the house.  I remember hearing him sobbing on the phone telling my mom what happened between panicked breaths.  After a short while and hospital visit, i returned home with a fractured left index finger and may punctures in both my palms.

Even now, he still lays claim to his domain.  He lies alone, mostly deaf and unable to sit up.  His body is broken and worn.  Sometimes I wonder if he remembers what happened that day...

Marlene

Today i caught my Mom taking these boots off while singing "Apple Bottom jeans and the boots with the fur! The whole club was looking at her!" ¡Que vergüenza!

This is Adam

He's loud and obnoxious.  And he's from Sweden.  He taught me how to say this.  Prata svenska.

i saw myself

Quietly sitting on the train back to Boon Lay, i listened to the Radio Dept. and gazed down at a sea of dirty feet.  People came and left through the train doors, pushing and bumping into each other the way the Singaporeans do.  A woman sat next to me with grocery bags and a face that told of long days and a life of difficulty.  I readjusted myself in my seat and leaned on the plastic wall that bordered the doorway.  A family entered the train and i found myself transfixed on them with unblinking eyes.  The woman sat still and eyed her two boys who sat between herself and her husband.  The man sat opposite the boys, staring off into nothing looking slightly detached from his situation.  The older boy who looked about ten years old sat holding his hands in his lap.  He wore a cotton shirt and shorts outfit in orange and beige with a blue cap on his head.  Often times he would glance at his little brother who sat restlessly in his seat.  The younger boy also wore the same outfit in opposite color scheme with a red hat and large ears poking out from the sides of his head.  He looked at me and gave the unrelenting stare that children give.  Deep and hard with curious eyes.  I noticed the mother also looked in my direction at times, watching me observe her and her family.  She sat with a sense of motherhood and endearment that reminded me of my own mother.  Patiently giving everything she could for the betterment of her boys.  She leaned over and said something to her husband. They both laughed and smiled at each other the way good friends do.

I wore the red hat.
